Message From the Chairperson
On behalf of the Organising and Scientific Committees, it is with great delight that I welcome you to the Pan African Anaesthesia Symposium on Partnerships for Safe Delivery of Anaesthesia in Children in Africa.
Over the three days of the symposium, this distinguished gathering of health professionals and experts from across Africa will deliberate on the successful development and deployment of safe anaesthesia services for children undergoing surgery, with a special emphasis on cleft lip and palate surgery.
I hope that you will find this symposium a technically rewarding experience through exchange of ideas, approaches, and experiences, and that it will serve as a forum for finding realistic solutions and developing practical plans to improve the anaesthesia services for children in sub-Saharan Africa.
I wish to acknowledge Smile Train’s Educational Grant for funding this symposium. I am also grateful for the invaluable support of the Country Director of AMREF in Kenya, Mette Kjaer, and her team; AMREF Headquarters and Communications Department, and to all the participants for finding the time and interest to attend this meeting.
Enjoy the conference, and enjoy your stay in Nairobi!
Dr Johnson Musomi
